How to Become Your Best Version in 2023

How to Become Your Best Version in 2023

If you are a man, you are probably like me.

You have a dream in which you have money, cars, a good woman and the power to provide for and protect your loved ones.

The difference between men that will achieve it and men that will not is that for some, it is a dream, and for others, it is a goal.

Today, I woke up sad. I knew that I had to make a change. So I embraced my sadness and instead of crying about it, I used it as a reminder that I am not where I want to be. Luckily for me, I have always been very self-conscious, and I had been making baby steps toward my goal of becoming a much-improved version of myself.

My ambition proved helpful and lead me to levels that most people are not by my age. I am 21, I have a house, a nice job and the woman of my dreams. But that is not enough for me. Life is too short to move at a slow pace.

That is the reason I decided to design a plan to become a much better human. I wrote this down to remind myself how I want to be and how I will achieve it, but you can use this information to become a better version of yourself too.

Decide where you want to be

To get to a place, you first need to know the path. And similarly, to improve, you first need to know what needs to be improved.

You need to make a list with all of the traits that you would like to have by the end of 2023.

In this list, do not include things you would like to have but instead include things you would like to be. You cannot directly control what you have, but you can control what you are, which over time, will determine what you have. At the end of each entry, include the reason you want to be there and how you plan to achieve that.

Here is my list:

  1. I will become an athlete because I want to have better health, and a better body to protect myself and my loved ones. I will work out every day to achieve it, eat well and cut any habits that are negative for my health.

  2. I will become a writer because I want to share my ideas with the world. I will post valuable content on my Twitter account every day and frequently on this blog to achieve this. I will also keep notes of every bright idea that I have.

  3. I will become a maker because I know I have good ideas and I hate not turning them into reality. I will code for my projects every day and ship at least one of them per month.

  4. I will become a reader because I want to be a wise and skilled person. I will achieve this by reading articles and books every day.

Did you notice how I added a "because" after each reason and an "I will" after that?

If you want to become something, you need to know the reason you want that and the path you need to follow. The text after "because" defines the reason and the text after "I will" defines the path.

If you want my help, feel free to send me your list through a DM on Twitter and I will help you to refine it.

Tips to achieving your goals

Depending on your goals, you will have to take different measures, but some global tips are helpful for most goals. Here are some of them:

  • Cut anything that is draining your energy. Your time is your most valuable asset, do not waste it on anything stupid or meaningless.

  • Wake up early. You will have more time than the rest of the people to achieve your goals, this is an insane advantage that will compound over time. (Fun fact: I wrote this article at 3 AM, after a good night of sleep)

  • Improve your energy and focus. Drinking water and doing a dopamine detox are helpful for this.

  • Make your bed. If you pay attention to the small details, you will thrive. You can't be your best version if you didn't make your bed.

Time to take action

There are no hidden secrets to becoming better, now that you have a list and plan, you just need to take action to achieve all of your goals. Trust me, that is everything you need to do. Follow this recipe, and you will prosper.

Deep inside you, you know that I am right.
